The No Sew Christmas Tree Skirt

This is an easy peasy Christmas Tree Skirt, that does not need to be perfect to be super fabulous!    I used the most beautiful furry with gold flecks fabric I found at Joann’s, I literally gasped when I saw it.  Then I saw the price tag of $30 a yard, and I put it right back.  Well, Joanns sent me a 60% off coupon the next day, so I had to go back and get it.  I bought a yard and a half regular price $45, with coupon $18.

Word to the wise about fabric selection.  As I said, I bought the furriest fabric they had and it was a hot mess to work with.  I literally had fur everywhere, but I love how it came out so I did not mind the mess, but it ranks up there with glitter.  However, if fur is not your jam then you can do this with most heavy fabrics like fleece, felt or sherpa.

What you will need:

  • 1.5 yards of fabric
  • String, this could be yarn, string, twine, really anything
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • Pin

First, always mark and cut from the back of your fabric.  Next, mark the middle of the square.  You can do this by measuring 25.5″ in from a side and the top.  Then tack a piece of string to the middle of the square and determine how long your string should be. I cut mine an inch short of the bottom of the square.

Now, remember back to using a protractor in the 5th grade this is the same concept. You will wrap the string around the pen to create tension to make a circle.

From here you should have the center marking and a circle on the back of your fabric.

Use the circle line that you just created to cut out the circle. Once the circle is cut out, you will draw a straight line from the center marker to the outside of the circle.

You will create a smaller circle using the center marker as a guide.  I cut down the string to 3″ and used the same method above to create the smaller circle.

Now cut the straight line up to the new little circle, and cut the circle out.  There you have it, your No-Sew Christmas Tree Skirt is Done!!!

It really is that easy, and if your circle is not perfect nobody will notice.  It’s really that easy.

Cheers!
