Easy modern scrap quilt, without looking like a scrap quilt

I have no idea what this pattern is called, or even if it has a name. I have seen several variations of this block, but nothing exactly like this. If you know its name please let me know so I can create the designer.

I feel that I have been on a two-year quest to use up my quilt scraps, while I know I will never use them all up, I want to get control of the madness. I have found that I am falling out of love with a lot of the fabric I have, and would really like to build a new stash, but the frugal part of me is having a hard time not using what I already have.

This quilt is in my top two favorite quilts I did this year. I purposely didn’t add any white or low-volume fabrics. I wanted the colors to shine, and I found is the approach worked extremely well. The colors play off each other, there really is not a bold or color out of place. I started to make a second quilt with low-volume and it was meh so I didn’t make it past the second block.

And let’s not breeze past the pattern’s simplicity. The three central color squares measure a modest 2.5 inches, flanked by two squares of the surrounding color. These are then framed by two 8.25 x 2.5 inch rectangles on each side, giving it a sense of structure that belies the wildness of the colors.
