Learn how to English Paper Piece Book Review

I tried EPP and it was really easy!

Last December I binged watched Mister Domestic’s EEP Series on You Tube.   At the time I felt that I did not have fabric worthy of EPP, or at least that’s what I told myself.

Blog Hop Anyone?

Then early this month Carolina Moore asked for quilters to review her book on English Paper Piecing, and I figured that was the nudge that I needed so I signed up to review the book and try my hand at EPP.

Fun Book on how to learn to English Paper Piece

Once I saw the cover of the book, I knew I would make a pillow to match my new reading nook. Sadly while I love my pillow, it’s doesn’t work in the nook….I think it’s too matchy mathcy.

Reading Nook

I really do love my reading nook!

I have tons of fabric left over from my tuffet, so I thought it would be fun to make a matching pillow from what I learned from this book.

EPP, Hexi, Quilting
Ready to hand sew my hexis

After a conversations with my friends IG, I decided to follow the directions of the book and go with 1.5 inch hexi forms. Glue basting is amazing!

I did it, all that hand sewing created this fun pillow!

I love how it came out, but I did learn two things:

Things I should have known:

  1. You do not need to use that much glue
  2. Hand Sewing takes longer than you think
  3. Hand Sewing in a car is harder than you think

I did refer back to the book several times through the process, and found it to be very helpful for a beginner like me.
